Despite few having faith in him initially, Luis de la Fuente placed his trust in the defender, and Cucurella repaid that faith with outstanding displays, becoming a crucial part of Spain’s triumph.
While doubts remain over the goalkeeper, midfield, and forward positions, the left-back spot seems locked down, with Cucurella emerging as the strong favorite to start at the World Cup. Moreover, the Chelsea defender has won over Spanish fans with his charisma, particularly his distinctive hairstyle.
Recently, Cucurella filmed a video with two of Spain’s most popular content creators, Juan Beato and Erra. The aim was to show what a day in the life of a top-level footballer looks like. At one point, Erra asked him, “How much would you cut your hair for?” Cucurella couldn’t help but laugh but warned, “A lot of cash, a few million.”
The content creator pressed further: “How many millions?” Beato quickly chimed in, “We’re putting him in a tough spot…” However, Cucurella clarified, “I’m thinking about it—there might be a sheikh…” At that, Beato suggested, “Name a figure, and if someone offers that crazy amount, give us 5%.”
After pondering for a few seconds, the former Getafe star settled the debate: “For €5 million, I’d shave it all off.”
It’s worth noting that after winning the Euro, Cucurella agreed to dye his hair red, which sparked a lot of chatter on social media. In an interview with SPORT, he stated that “the red dye brought good luck.” When asked what he would do if Spain won the World Cup, he said, “Whoa, that’s pressure. You could go all out, but I wouldn’t say it too loudly because then it might not happen… I’d change the dye this time, but maybe I’d go for a little shave. Let’s say I’d go bald.” So, perhaps he doesn’t need €5 million to cut his hair—just winning the World Cup and keeping his promise to SPORT might do the trick.
