Sinner Becomes Fourth Player to Reach Finals at All Nine Masters Events

Posted on: 05/13/2026

Just hours before the Madrid Masters final, Jannik Sinner defeated Fils in the semifinals, marking his first time reaching the championship match at this event. In doing so, the Italian joined an exclusive club as only the fourth player in history to have reached the final at all nine ATP Masters 1000 tournaments. Notably, he achieved this milestone at a younger age than any of his predecessors.

Three seasons ago, Sinner had yet to win a major title. Now, only two Masters crowns remain missing from his collection. Here’s a breakdown of his journey to the finals in each tournament:

Indian Wells: 2026 champion
Miami: 2024 & 2026 champion
Sinner’s first Masters final appearance came at the Sunshine Double. He reached the Miami final in 2021, losing to Hubert Hurkacz, and again in 2023, this time falling to Daniil Medvedev. It wasn’t until 2024 that he finally broke through, defeating Grigor Dimitrov for his maiden Masters crown in Miami. At Indian Wells, he made his debut final this year, again conquering Medvedev to claim the trophy.

Monte Carlo: 2026 champion
Madrid: 2026 finalist
Rome: 2025 runner-up
After a doping-related suspension kept him out until the Rome Masters last year, Sinner fought his way to the final in his home country. However, Carlos Alcaraz, in scintillating form on clay, proved too strong. This year, Sinner has been dominant on the red dirt, winning his first clay Masters in Monte Carlo and now reaching the Madrid final.

Canada: 2023 champion
Cincinnati: 2024 champion
The North American hard-court double saw Sinner capture his first Masters title in Canada, beating Alex de Minaur in the final. Cincinnati, with its fast surface, suits his game perfectly, and he added the title there in 2024.

Shanghai: 2024 champion
Paris: 2025 champion
Sinner excelled in the Asian and indoor swing as well. He defeated Novak Djokovic in the Shanghai final in 2024 and followed up with a title in Paris-Bercy last year, overcoming Grigor Dimitrov after clinching the ATP Finals.

Tonight, Sinner aims for a fifth consecutive Masters title. If successful, he could become the first player to achieve a “Career Golden Masters” within his trophy cabinet—a feat that even Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal never accomplished. How soon can he make history?
