According to NBA insider Shams Charania, the Philadelphia 76ers have parted ways with president of basketball operations Daryl Morey.

Under Morey’s leadership, the 76ers’ playoff results in each season were as follows:

– 2021: Second round exit

– 2022: Second round exit

– 2023: Second round exit

– 2024: First round exit

– 2025: Missed playoffs

– 2026: Second round exit

While the reaction of other 76ers players to Morey’s departure remains unclear, Paul George will undoubtedly be grateful. Without Morey’s “keen eye,” George would not have secured the final max contract of his career in the summer of 2024 — a four-year, $212 million deal.

After letting Morey go, the 76ers have tabbed former Golden State Warriors general manager Bob Myers to serve as interim replacement while the team searches for a permanent president of basketball operations.

During his tenure as Warriors GM, Myers helped the franchise win four NBA championships (2015, 2017, 2018, 2022) and was named NBA Executive of the Year twice. He stepped down after his contract expired in 2023.
