Andorra is still savoring their emphatic 5-1 victory over Las Palmas, and for good reason. The tricolor side proved that the defeat against Albacete two matchdays ago was merely an accident. What the Principality has been experiencing in recent months of the season is pure enjoyment. While it may not be enough to secure a playoff spot for promotion—they are seven points off the pace—they have sealed their survival with authority in this return campaign to the second division.
But there’s more: Encamp has become a nightmare for top-table teams. Over the past month, clubs like Málaga, Racing de Santander, and Las Palmas have visited the Principality, and not only did Andorra pick up points (seven out of nine possible), they also racked up big wins. After a 3-3 draw against Málaga, a 6-2 thrashing of Racing, and the latest 5-1 demolition of Las Palmas, the team has scored 14 goals in these three home games. A true offensive show.

Andorra now sits on 58 points and have rattled more than one rival this season. Interestingly, they perform better against teams in the upper half of the table than those lower down. That explains the numbers—14 goals against Málaga, Racing, and Las Palmas. Efe Akman provides the key: “We do better against top teams because they leave us more space.” Andorra, who dominate possession in every match, struggle when opponents defend deep. But when rivals try to go toe-to-toe with them, they shine.
Three league matches remain, and Andorra will face Depor, Ceuta, and Burgos—games that are favorable for them to keep proving this point.
