The 2026 Giro d’Italia kicks off in Eastern Europe, starting in Bulgaria for the first time. This marks the 16th time the race has opened outside of Italy and the 13th different country to host the Grande Partenza. The first three stages take place entirely within Bulgaria before the race moves to Italy, culminating in Rome for the final stage.
Covering a total distance of 3,459.2 kilometers with an accumulated elevation gain of 49,150 meters, this year’s edition includes 1 individual time trial, 8 flat stages, 7 medium-mountain stages, and 5 high-mountain stages, with 7 summit finishes. The route promises diverse terrain and intense competition over three weeks.
